Medicine for Barangay Health Centers Project

When we first organized the Barangay Emergency Response Teams in January 2008, the first problem we undertook to solve was that the Barangay Health Centers had no medicines. We have been a long time in planning and getting funding for this project. Our first step in solving this problem was to bring low cost generic medicines to Bolitoc and Sabang. We did this by sponsoring three Botika Natin sa Nayon, one in Brgy. Sabang, and two in Brgy. Bolitoc (Longos - Purok 6),  and in Brgy. Bolitoc (Purok 2).
Ultimate goal of project:
Provide medicines and First Aid supplies to the Brgy Health Center patients as needed.

The problem we see is that the Barangay Health Centers have NO medicines to provide for the indigent sick. The facilities consist of weighing scales and one blood pressure kit. The Midwife in charge and the Barangay Health Workers  are limited to providing minimal preventive services.

With no medicines available, and no money for transportation or medicines, the people seek solutions with the local Wak Wak (Witch Doctor) who will chew some leaves and spit on the person, or light candles and chant for the spirits to leave. Then charge the person Php 20 and send them home. The end result is the LGU's are not providing the citizens of Sta. Cruz with solutions to their health problems.

Sta. Cruz Emergency Response, Inc. through the Barangay Emergency Response Teams and in cooperation with the Municipal Health Office has undertaken this project to solve the medicine problem. We will distribute needed medicines to the people through a chit basis. No money will be handled by the patients, midwives, or Barangay Health Workers (BHW).

The Board of Directors on 4 July 2009 approved a resolution to allocate Php 5,000 for Brgy Bolitoc, and Php 2,000 for Brgy Sabang for this project. There are 23 additional Brgy. Health Centers that need a medicine program. We do not have sufficient money to solve this problem. You can help by donating even one dollar. It will make a difference.

The Brgy. Health Centers support over 50,000 residents.

Please help us to help those in need.  ALL donations go directly to help the people in need. We have 100% transparancy and post all our financials. Please help us to provide medicines by making a donation. Click here to DONATE.
