NFA Rice Project

On May 23, 2008, DSWD Region III awarded certificate to operate Tindahan Natin Program (TNP) to five (5) qualified TNP operators in Sta. Cruz, Zambales.  We have teamed with the Brgy Sabang Tindahan Natin to provide low priced NFA rice to low-income families.

The NFA rice is purchased for Php 19.00/kg from the Brgy Sabang Tindahan Natin.
Our selling price was increased Php 1.00/kg effective July 6, 2008 to pay transportation costs and other expenses. The rice is being sold at Php 20.00/kg.

On July 16, 2008, exactly one month after we started this project, we were informed that we could no longer obtain rice from the Brgy. Sabang Tindahan Natin. We were told by the TNP operator, that she was informed by NFA Iba, that the rice from her TNP could only be distributed to people living within Brgy. Sabang.

In keeping with our policy of 100% transparency, the financials are posted on the Treasurer's page.

Tindahan Natin (TN) Project -
A national government initiative for job generation, livelihood and food security. It provides low-priced but good quality rice to low income families through a store jointly identified and endorsed by the DSWD, Provincial / City / Municipal Social Welfare and Development Offices of the Local Government Units (LGUs) in coordination with the barangay and which are subsequently accredited by the National Food Authority.  It is being subsidized by the DSWD through the provision of P20,000.00 as capital assistance per TNP operator. Meanwhile, the National Food Authority sees to it that the supply of rice and noodles for the TNP is being met.
